“If you lift weights and combine your training with some aerobic exercise you will live longer.” -

The importance of physical training 'The miracle pill'

The recent study published by the the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found that adults who who took part in regular weightlifting had a 14% lower risk of death and those that met the aerobic activity had a 32% lower risk of death. Now you know why we have mixed components of fitness in our group and personal training at Kinetics. We always include strength and muscular endurance exercises as well as aerobic components because we want all our clients to be healthy, strong and live a long and full life.

If you do the maths and therefore meet the aerobic and weightlifting guides, which advise that you should train at least 1 or 2 times a week, you will have a 41-47% lower risk of death according to the study. So next time you can't be bothered or don't feel that you can get to Kinetics, ask yourself the question, how long do you want to live!!!!

How long should you train for?

It is advised that each person should train for 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week. All participants are encouraged to complete strengthening exercises on the legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms also, for at least two days a week. So without to much thought in our busy lives you need to complete at least 2 x Group or PT sessions a week with us and even better 3 x Group or PT sessions a week for you to remain in optimal health for now and in the future.

Two great examples below, Mervin has one on one PT once a week and then uses the gym on two other occasions. Ray comes to the Gym every day nearly 5 or 6 sessions a week and both are fit, healthy and an example to all of us at Kinetics.
